World Book Day – Thursday 1st March
It is World Book Day on Thursday 1st March and we are planning to celebrate this with a fantastic variety of activities throughout school involving all the children from Nursery to Year 6.
As part of this celebration of books and reading, we would love for the children to dress up as their favourite book character. If they could also bring the book that their character is from, that would be even better!
Don’t forget, you can visit our new-look school library every evening Wed, Thurs and Fri 3:10pm- 3:30pm to read and choose books, so if you are struggling for inspiration, why not pay us a visit?
During the day, the children will be taking part in lots of exciting activities which will build upon their love of reading. One activity that we know is crucial to children having a passion for reading, is sharing books with family. During the day, each class will be inviting parents and family in to ‘share a story’ within their children’s classes: this may be 1:1 with your child, or with small groups of children from that class. Sharing stories is one of the best ways to get children engaged with reading, whether they are in Nursery or year 6!
Details will follow, however we really hope you can join us to make this day even more magical for your child.
Our fabulous Reading Ambassadors will also be holding mini competitions throughout the day for all the children, with many super prizes up for grabs.
We are so proud of how hard every one of them is working to raise the profile of reading in our school and make every child at Fairway have an enthusiasm for books.
Please see the World Book Day website for more details.
Thank you so much for all your support,
