HOME WORK

HOMEWORK

The Year 1 team are really looking forward to seeing what learning is talking place at home. Our aim, in partnership with Parents and Carers is to support, consolidate and extend the learning covered in the classroom whilst encouraging children to develop the responsibility and confidence needed to learn independently.

In Year 1, we expect the children to be:

  • Reading every day
  • Looking back at the Floppy's Phonics Workbook each week
  • Doing their Maths homework 4-5 times a week using the Numbots site

If you have any issues regarding homework, please do not hesitate to contact us via email on sophie.england@fairway.stockport.sch.uk

READING

Your child will bring home their reading book each day for you to read at home. The book marked 'core' is fully phonetically decodable and your child should be able to read this without too much help. The expectation is that your child reads daily and that their reading record book is also filled in. This will allow us to see how they are getting on with their reading at home. Please return their reading folder each day as we listen to every child each week and change their reading books weekly.

Please remember that Reading Bingo books are to be shared- there is no expectation that your child reads them themselves.

FLOPPY'S PHONICS WORKBOOK

In your child's reading folder you will find the Floppy's Phonics Workbooks we are using in school. There is a quick guide attached below to give you ideas on how to use it at home. Please remember not to start any new pages at home.

MATHS

You child is expected to practice key maths facts through using the numbots site.  You should have recieved a log on and password for this.
